About Rammey Ramsey (1935-2021)

Born at Old Greenvale Station (Bow River Station), East Kimberly, Western Australia. Lives and works Bow River Station. Gija people. Rammey Ramsey has painted for ceremony throughout his entire adult life, however, he only began painting professionally in 2000. His practice incorporates a combination of striking monochromatic works and use of bold colour to depict his country and ancestral lands. Solo exhibitions of Ramsey’s work include New Work by Rammey Ramsey, Seva Frangos Gallery, Subiaco (2011); Rammey Ramsey: Small Boards, Raft Artspace, Darwin (2009); Rammey Ramsey – In the Pink, Raft Artspace, Darwin (2008); Rammey Ramsey: Deeper than paint on canvas, William Mora Galleries, Melbourne (2004); Rammey Ramsey, Raft Artspace, Darwin (2003); and Rammey Ramsey, Raft Artspace, Darwin (2001).
