About Laurel Burgu

Laurel is the eldest of four sisters, who are all artists in the Mowanjum Community. She has taught at the Mowanjum Preschool in the past, and enjoys working with, and educating, young children in the Community. Laurel incorporates a unique, naive style with cultural motifs. She draws mostly child spirits, and paints Wandjinas using red, white and black ochre, a traditional medium, and also utilises acrylic paint.
