Charmaine Pwerle

Utopia artist Charmaine Pwerle certainly has powerful artistic genes. Her mother is Barbara Weir and the late Minnie Pwerle is her grandmother, both well known and celebrated artists for this region. In addition to the maternal influences, Gloria Petyarre and Emily Kame Kngwarreye were also wonderful role models. No wonder, that with such exposure to strong cultural artistic expression and immersion, Charmaine's work shows great promise. Her strong and confident mark making results in rich and expressive works, echoing the solid connections she has with her country and history.
