Marceena Jack
Marceena started working in ceramics at Ernabella Anangu School, as part of the Pukatja Pottery School program. When Marceena completed high school she came to work at the art centre. Marceena’s grandfather Rupert Jack was the 2015 chair of Ernabella Arts, and her mother Yaritji Jack also works in the ceramic studio.
Marceena is an emerging ceramic artist and painter. In early 2017 Marceena took the lead in creating a 9m tile wall for the recently renovated Longitude 131 at Uluru. 25 other Ernabella women worked alongside Marceena to create over 485 tiles using her ‘tjanpi’ tile design. Marceena is also one of the young Ernabella women who is developing wheel throwing skills. She has led a number of workshops, passing these skills on to school-aged girls.
In 2019 Marceena, along with two other young Ernabella women, participated in JamFactory Artist in Residence- Metals and Ceramic Workshops as part of the Tarnarthi Festival. The resulting ceramic jewellery was exhibited in Wanapari – in a line, following one another, alongside paintings by senior women artists from Ernabella Arts.
