Owen Yalandja

Owen Yalandja (born 1962) is a Kuninjku artist from Maningrida in Central Arnhem Land and a senior member of the Dangkorlo clan. A renowned sculptor, his exceptional works include his exquisitely carved yawkyawk spirit figures which represent young girl spirits or ancestors who live in the water and whose shadows can sometimes be seen as they run away from humans who might come near.
