Ray Ken (c1940-2018)
Kunmanara Ray Ken was born around 1940 at Amaru in the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in South Australia. He became a renowned artist and respected senior law man. He painted in both oils and acrylics, creating contemporary depictions of Tali - the undulating sand hills of his homelands, and Kulata Tjuta - celebrating the importance of handcrafted spears and their connection to those past and present Anangu, fighting to protect country and culture. He passed away in Mutitjulu Northern Territory in 2018.
